Pretty fun, played it two times for now, couldn't stop at just one ! Might play it again too. The concept is cool, tetris with platformer is really cool and playing a cute cat is always a very good idea.
I do think though that although 9 lives makes sense with a cat, it did feel weird to see the score decrease to a seemingly random value (I guess it's close to 10% ?) with every life. I do like just starting a game and restarting it when I lose. Especially since the game is pretty slow, and playing it 9 times in a row to get the best score (which could suddently get lower if unlucky on the last life played, for instance) isn't as engaging as just doing a quick game here and there and trying to aim for the best in one run.
Lost at close to 2 minutes with a 10 000 score, got a bit unlucky on how blocks fell, I might have played better but because they fall faster, it's way harder with the slow cat to use ones still in the air to keep ascending. And if you're unlucky with the only platformer you get and have a large one falling over a I block, it does feel pretty hopeless.
But also, it seemed ok and still fun to play !
Congratulations for finishing this game !
[Edit] I keep playing it, got a better run with 15000 at 2:02, I do feel like it was a bit luckier and lost on a mistake. It's a really, really cool concept, very very fun to play ! :3
Hey, thanks a ton for your feedback, I really appreciate it!
yeah, admittedly the lives system was a bit of an afterthought, I forgot about it in my rush to finish on time. You are right that it sets the score back to 10% but really it should just be a single run game without lives at all. I do plan to continue updating the game in the future.
If you were having troubles with the cat being too slow, you can hold Lshift or K to run faster and get further jumps. And yes, jumps with a block directly above are certainly the hardest, you need to run and abuse coyote time a bit but it is doable with some finesse.
2 minutes is good, especially if you weren't using the run mechanic, as that's when it starts to get extra fast. My personal best is 4:02, if anyone wants to try to beat it, the speed gets really crazy!
thanks again for playing!
